An Online Encyclopedia of Drag Racing in New England

Rick Bernasconi and Paul Quigley are taking their passion for intense quarter-mile action to a new level as they prepare for a reboot of the famed Hot Rods From Hell. The two recently announced an agreement with long-time promoter and racer Scott Jezak to acquire rights to the iconic drag racing organization known for putting fans on the edge of their seats for many years.

“This is an exciting venture for us,” said Bernasconi. “Paul and I have always viewed the Hot Rods From Hell as one of the most exciting and intense group of racers in motorsports.” Quigley echoed Bernasconi’s comments adding, “The Hot Rods From Hell fueled my passion for supercharged altereds. Now I have a chance to introduce a new generation of race fans to the excitement that was a hallmark of the Hot Rods From Hell.”

It was almost pre-destined that this would come about. Several years ago Bernasconi and Quigley found, rebuilt, and campaigned Neal Parker’s Excavator Fiat as part of New England Dragway’s 7.0 program. Parker’s machine was one of the group’s main attractions. The two plan to carry that mantle when they launch their debut at the Epping track on June 2.

Bernasconi said, “We’re starting off with a four-car field at the June 2, New England event. We have a great lineup set for the relaunch and will look at adding more six-second, 200 MPH altereds in the future.” They will not be alone in helping revive the iconic name. Scott Jezak has offered to help the group return to its spot as one of the most sought after groups in drag racing. That will include bringing their program to other tracks across the east coast.
